The female-led discodelic soul band Say She She - named as a silent nod to Nile Rodgers (C’est chi-chi!: It's Chic!”) will transport you with their dreamy harmonies, catchy hooks and up-tempo grooves. Hailing from London & Brooklyn, the band's sound is a hat tip to late 70’s girl groups with the three strong female lead voices of Piya Malik (El Michels Affair staple feature, and former backing singer for Chicano Batman), Sabrina Mileo Cunningham and Nya Gazelle Brown (former 79.5) at the epicenter of a roaring 7 piece band.
The band’s debut single FORGET ME NOT quickly proved to be a certified dance-floor banger. Written as an ode to New York City’s Guerilla Girls fighting racial and gender discrimination in the art world and premiered by DJ Novena Carmel on Morning Becomes Eclectic.
Say She She’s follow up single - a sultry B side BLOW MY MIND has catalyzed their Karma Chief /Colemine 7” release as a must cop 45 for DJs coast to coast. They followed that with a billowing protest anthem NORMA in June; it was Say She She’s response to the then impending decision to overturn Roe Vs Wade is an urgent call for ACTION in support of protecting women’s rights and preserving the right to choose.
Their debut LP ‘Prism’ out on Karma Chief/ Colemine Records dropped in the fall
Abby Jeanne has been an artist her entire life. While growing up in Milwaukee, WI, she was indoctrinated into the arts via a public art schooling experiment in the 90s. As a pre-teen, she was socially adopted by a Rock N Roll cafe cult, where she wrote music, painted, and started her deep infatuation with records, especially 60s pop and underground soul/rock n’ roll via the haunted jukebox that lived there. A series of family tragedies, including the loss of her sister, left Abby living in a car with her guitar, which led to her traveling overseas and hitchhiking through India, and carving out a music career for herself. Through it all, she is currently a New York City-based multimedia artist who has built a name for herself through not only her music, but her visual art and event throwing.
After years of hustling to create DIY releases and garnering the support of national radio stations across the country, 2022 saw Abby Jeanne release the single “That’s Where We Are” on Eraserhood Sound.
Ultimately, Eraserhood Sound’s retro-futuristic analog production style proved to be the perfect place for Abby Jeanne to enhance her psychedelic compositions and bring them to life. “Know Better” is a rollicking pop-soul party-starter that features a four on the floor beat, slashing guitar riffs, and anthemic harmonies. The song has deceptively profound lyrics that examine the selfishness and vapidity of today’s society. It is a song that Abby has had with her for quite some time, but it was not until she found the Eraserhood Sound team that she felt ready to record a definitive version. Having been cut almost entirely live to tape, the finished product is an undeniable winner, a hard-hitting anthem that captures the raw electricity that surrounds Abby Jeanne’s magnetic persona.
“Sage and Cigarettes" is Abby's latest single, and it packs a heavy emotional punch. Drawing from soul luminaries like Otis Redding and Etta James, Abby delivers a powerful vocal performance about being a woman living with trauma in the modern world. In 2023, she released the Know Better / Sage and Cigarettes 7" on Eraserhood Sound, a smashing 2 sider that showcases the electric Abby Jeanne at her best yet.
