TITLE TOWN Soul & Funk Party returns to Spirit with another edition of its vinyl-driven funky soul dance party on Saturday, September 6th, 2025 at 9pm.
Each month, TITLE TOWN turns up the heat with five hours of stone cold grooves - deep cuts and dance floor burners from the ‘60s and ‘70s funk, soul, disco, and beyond. This month, we’re turning it up another notch with Pittsburgh's own DJ Buscrates bringing the funk, disco, and boogie all night long.
Pittsburgh DJ, musician and producer Buscrates creates grooves that oscillate between funk, boogie, jazz or hip-hop. He draws inspiration from the classic 1990s boom bap sound in hip-hop and the boogie and disco dance music of the 1970s. Acoustic drums, drum machines, synthesizers and vocoders are the ingredients of his jams.
Buscrates will join us behind the controls and take you into the discoverse with an all 45 set of boogie, disco, funk, rare grooves and more. Residents DJ Gordy G. & J.Malls round out the night with top-shelf soul, deep funk, disco, and rare grooves—all on vinyl, all night long.
Bringing freshness to Pittsburgh’s clubs since 2009, TITLE TOWN stays true to its original sound, residents J.Malls & Gordy G. take you on a journey across the musical landscape - resurrecting deep soul, funk and disco cuts from the early-1960s through the late 1980s - mixing up rarities from Honey & The Bees, The Third Guitar, and Family of Eve with stone cold classics from Aretha, James Brown, Sister Sledge, The Spinners, Curtis Mayfield, Gwen McCrae and more.
As always, we gather to celebrate the power of music, the unique soulful, vibrant sounds on wax - dancing into the night together as party goers, crate-diggers, DJs, family - creating positive vibes, connecting with another, with open hearts and open minds.
